Awesome experience at Sequoia NP!

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Awesome experience at Sequoia NP!

Post by mountaineer »

Yesterday my car busted as my family and I were headed up the General's Hwy. in Sequoia. For nearly 3 hours, two NPS employees assisted me with my car until we got it patched up. It was 100+ degrees. The Visitor Center employees offered to let my family hang out in their air-conditioned conference room, they let me use their desk phone as I was calling around for parts so I wouldn't have to make numerous credit card calls on the pay phone outside, and they didn't say anything about my greasy paw prints all over their counter. They were some awesome people and definitely won't be forgotten! I am trying to think of a way besides a nice letter to their supervisors to express my gratitude.

A citizen passing by stopped and said they would wait until I knew which part I needed and then give me a ride to Visalia. Another resident of Three Rivers said he would shuttle my family down to the motel while I worked on the car.

Many thanks to Sequoia NP employees and the citizens of Three Rivers!!!

You got that right! I was beginning to have my doubts but yesterday restored my faith in people a little bit. Not sure it will last but, hey, I'll take what I can get!:)
