Present some actual information or please stop wasting our time.

Just in case you're missing it... like the last post, this is an invitation to prove me wrong in thinking your "cause" is a waste of time for us to continue to examine.

There's nothing negative about asking you where you got the idea that the Sierra Nevada will be torn down, either. Where did you get that idea? Still waiting for the answer.

Sure, I clicked around. Got some "sorry this no longer exists" pages on some of the links. Didn't answer the remaining questions you've been asked.

Here's another one: what's your 501c3 tax ID? looking up Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition returned no results.

actually i called you snide and negative only after your snide commetns accusing me of "truth in adverstising" and of "fearmongering".That was ridiculous.Calling me hostile?Kettle-pot-black.Why so angry?.I never did anything to you.You are obviously hyper suspicious and paranoid about this thread.Honing your obstinance? And no,i dont know what tax id has to do with anything here but you obviously are trying to figure it out for whatever reason.
Your questions can be answered on the website links. Why would i explain to you whats already on those websites-read it.If you dont like it move, no one is forcing the issue.I just posted this stuff for people who are interested in preserving mtns in w va. Those people need all the support they can get.If your only interested in mtns in your own backyard, fine, isolate yourself to your world.

I appreciate mtns not just in my backyard and believe in supporting their preservation wherever they may be.

You're not reading anything I say. I asked for information that anyone considering donating to a cause has a right to ask. I looked up the organization at the IRS website and it is not listed under that name anywhere as a nonprofit. There are other organizations of similar names, but I would expect the federal gov would want it to be exact. If you are listed as something else, you could simply provide that name... of course that would mean the name of the organization is also false on the website.

It's not paranoid to want to know more about where your money is going. As someone who's been taken in before by crooks masquerading as people soliciting donations, I'd say it's rather smart. I want my donations to do good things, wherever in the world it goes. I will be certain of that or you don't get my money.

Your solicitation has motivated me to donate to a charity that I can verify this year for Christmas. Since you are not up to the task of providing one, I will probably select a no-kill shelter instead. The dogs and cats of the Central Valley thank you.

I had these same questions after having my facebook spammed with similar fear mongering posts. When I asked why I was recieving them and for some followup information, I would recieve no response. I finally reported them as "spam" to facebook. All anybody was asking for was some details to make an informative decision.

I bet the locals are not all up in arms over this, they probably welcome the jobs. Nope, its usually the bleading heart types from LA and SF that feel the need to step in and try and manage others resources, from 10 states away, on their Iphone.

Puzzling indeed.

With all due respect, this post seems out of place in the discussion. It is usually all sorts of people who get involved in environmental issues, including many members of these discussion boards, whether they live in the mountains, the prairies or the cities. And they are all stakeholders in what happens in and with our natural resources.

Your post makes it seems as if only local residents should have anything to say about what happens in the mountains---and I think that's position that most of us would oppose.

And Almosthere-- I appreciate your efforts to steer the OP into a more fruitful discussion. Too bad he was unwilling to take the effort to do so.

Both gore in 2000 and kerry in 2004 issued campaign position statements calling for local government and local populations to have a greater voice in federal land policies. Al gore went even further and called for continued or even increasing management of federal lands. Obama's stated position was federal lands should be managed according to sound science. What obama's handlers failed to realize is that sound science does not always mesh with the environmental industry's goals.

The notion that locals will always choose jobs over the environment is patently false. The initial recommendation of well over half of the designated Wilderness Areas in the U.S. first came from locals. Locals are usually better informed on the issues, and nearly always do a better cost/benefit analysis and long term effects planning of land policies.

There's a big difference between more local involvement and no outside involvement in these issues. I've worked on both sides of lots of these things, and believe that everyone who has information and interest should be involved. And yes, locals often have a very helpful perspective---they are also much more willing to negotiate with each other to achieve some kind of reasonable settlement. But that doesn't mean that if I don't live in town, I should just stand by and let things happen--particularly for areas that I know and love.
