Only read if you think like me

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Only read if you think like me

Post by el cuervo »

This thread is only for people that think like me.

I don't want to hear from anyone that think any differently than me.

Ack if I should read something that runs counter to MY view of the world.

Ugh if I might be met with something that would stretch my mind.

This is Eric's sandbox, no question there.

And he can certainly do as he wishes.

Nature is diverse, full of myriad organisms that interact and complement one another.

Maybe you all ought to move to the middle of a Monsanto based cornfield in Nebraska.

Buy a TV that only shows FOX news.

Rattle on to each other about one and only one thing. FISH.

At least you would be sure of one thing after all that.....

No one to spawn with.

Your kind would self-extirpate.

Free verse.

I'll give it a little more thought and see if V 1.1 is a little more fun.

This topix area is called, "The Fishing Hole". Why wouldn't we rattle on about fish here?

I liked your "free verse", but i prefer either Tanka or Haiku..

Early spring fishing
Rushing rivers icy cold
Trout avoid my lure

Unsettled weather
Moutains full of white snow
Boots weep bitter tears

I should point out that Russ is pretty much right here. Aside from the fact that this forum's purpose is for Sierra Nevada fishing-related discussion, the primary scope of the entire site is Sierra Nevada Recreation. That's the common interest. That's why we're here (or why we should be here). Moral and political discussions etc. are unquestionably going to be in the mix (and are an important part of it) - but that sort of thing is not, never has and never will be an emphasis of this site. :dontknow

Eric
I am truly proud of what you wrote. I hope nearly every one "gets it". Tom
Now -- on to some fun: These were taken in Cascade Valley, Fish Creek over Duck Pass.
It's a good creek to catch lots of fish, and obviously other fun too.

There are plenty of sites available where the emphasis is on people talking politics, worldview, etc; This doesn't seem like a good place for those topics to be the focus. I enjoy the fishing and backpacking talk most of all when I access the site.

However, on some topics such as fish stocking, frog habitat, etc; that involve regulation, government programs, I don't think you can really have a comprehensive discussion without politics and worldview coming up. So if the moderator is going to allow controversial topics, which I think he should, people are going to have to agree to disagree at times. That doesn't mean people who might disagree with me or you are stupid or "uninformed", or "fox news people", just people with differing perspectives. Personally, I enjoy reading others point of view, and am not threatened by thinking outside my own views. I will sometimes use strong rhetoric to make a point with something I don't agree with, because I want others to think and react, even if their first instinct is to blast me. But, if I have ever gone overboard, and personally offended anyone, I do apoligize.... that's not why I frequent this site.
