"Whitney Newsreel"

Last summer we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our 1st Whitney summit, and last weekend we had a "Family Film Festival", where we were all able to watch the various videos we created for this special event.

My nephew, Wesley, posted his on YouTube - it's only two minutes and very much in the style of the old "newsreels" we used to see in the theater before the feature movie. He did a great job with his "voice over" in the style of Lowell Thomas and the black and white effects look really authentic.

It's probably one of the most clever Whitney videos I've seen, here's the link:

Hi, Rosabella,
I've enjoyed your posts and thoughts so often, I just naturally clicked on "Whitney Newsreel" as soon as I saw it. Wow! A true original. It seems your nephew has a bright future ahead in cinema, if not parody! :D

Maybe its time for us HST'ers to start thinking again about our annual photography/motion picture award ceremony tradition, complete with gold statuette. Hmmmmm, what should we call it?

How about "the Marmot", eh? Er, what's that, Eric? OK, well, just a thought.

Anyway, nice job, and keep Wesley hiking; we'll all enjoy seeing more of you and him on the trail!

Thanks Timberline.... I'll pass on your compliment to Wes. Four of us made videos, but Wes was the only one who didn't use "copyrighted music"; the rest of us did.... great for soundtracks, but unfortunately also eliminates the possibility of posting on YouTube.

It's OK.... we had a great time!
