3 Hikers Recued in Kings Canyon park

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

I'm glad they were found safe and sound, unlike a hiker who has not been found
since Sept attempting to climb Split Mountain from Red Lake.

Must be a different hiker story I heard about - because I understood the guy realizing he was in the wrong chute, then climbed back out of near certain death and walked all the way down to Bench Lake drainage. He walked out to the road(long walk) to complete his rescue. Happy ending
mountain hiking is addictive:
I can quit anytime I want - I just choose not to want

There was a search around Split Mt -- though can't remember when. Guy left for a day hike from the east side. On return, he went down the next drainage north and almost to 395. Two days overdue when he was found. Don't know if that's what you're thinking of. I don't know of anything else up that direction. Haven't heard of anyone not found at all.
