Chiura Obata "Teachings from the SIERRA NEVADA"

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Chiura Obata "Teachings from the SIERRA NEVADA"

Post by dmdhiker »

I'm sure some of you artists here know about this Japanese block print artist and his work in Yosemite and the High Sierra. He was noted in Ken Burns series on National Parks. Here is an inspirational site with Obatas words and prints, specifically check out the Teaching from the Sierra Nevada portion. The second link is a gallery of some of his prints. Very beautiful. I was hoping to find some inexpensive posters to frame but can't find much yet other than the $6K original prints.
