8 inches here in the Santa Cruz Mountains(San Jose-Soquel rd and Summit rd).. in 12 hours!
The power just came back on tonight.
I have been cooking my coffe and oats on my old MSR XGK stove!
Burned through 8 candles last night just listening to KGO radio on battery power.
Thank God for our wood burning stove. Though I sold my chainsaws to fund my PCT hike I had squirelled away a bunch of rounds.. all I had to do was drag em up the trail with the jeep and split 'em with my brand new 8lb maul (with the hickory handle) :D
There are plenty of small mudslides along the roads up here and several trees and branches down as well.
I say, "BRING IT!" I love the challenge.
Personally It would suit me just fine if we get 180 inches of rain this year instead of our usual 80.
There is no feeling on this earth like blasting down a rain soaked road in a 60 year old Willys jeep without top or doors and the windshield folded flat! Yes.. I really do this. :D
The road was closed all day so I had to use the back way.. Morril Cut-off, which is a blast in my jeep  but not so much fun in the plumbing truck  .
Tonight the greatest travesty of the entire storm was revealed:
I stopped by the Summit Store which had been with out power as well. They were throwing away all the pints of icecream! I watched in horror as 100 pints of Hagendaz and the Bless-ed BEN AND JERRY's went into a garbage can. I managed to persuade them to give me a pint but had to promise to drink it right there! When you are thru hiking you come to relish pints-o- Ben and Jerry's. We all ate them. In fact the presence or lack of ice cream would be the deciding factor for some of us as to supply there or hike on!
Oh Yea.. this thread was about the storm! Sorry, I got hung up on that vision of all those pints, screaming as they fell into the abyss!
:D
