FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

MONDAY, 17-AUG-09, MORNING REPORT

A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL DOMINATE THE FORECAST AREA THROUGH WEDNESDAY KEEPING THINGS DRY AND TEMPERATURES AT ABOUT NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. ON THURSDAY, THE RIDGE KICKS EAST AND A STRONG A SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW DEVELOPS. THIS SHOULD BRING A MONSOON SURGE INTO OUR AREA FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. SO THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY DURING THAT TIME FRAME. SLIGHT COOLING CAN BE EXPECTED AS WELL.

FYI: I WILL BE OUT OF THE OFFICE THIS WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, SO NO FORECAST.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS AROUND 95. WINDS NW 3 - 8 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 50S. WINDS SE 6 - 9 MPH.
TUESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 90S. WINDS S 7 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 50S. WINDS SE 5 - 8 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S. WINDS NW 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS NW 5 MPH.
TUESDAY: SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S. WINDS NE 5 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS E 5 MPH.

FOR MONO COUNTY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS 80 - 90. WINDS E 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: CLEAR. LOWS 35 - 45. WINDS NE 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: MAINLY SUNNY WITH A FEW PM CLOUDS. HIGHS 82 - 92. WINDS E 10 MPH.
