FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER

THURSDAY, 13-AUG-09, MORNING REPORT

THE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WILL BEGIN TO COLLAPSE TODAY FROM AND UPPER LOW MOVING INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THAT UPPER LOW WILL THEN MOVE SLOWLY INLAND CAUSING A MINOR COOLING TREND WITHIN OUR FORECAST AREA FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND INTO THE WEEKEND. WITH THAT LOW THE WINDS WILL PICKUP, PARTICULARLY IN MONO COUNTY, TODAY AND TOMORROW. MORE NORMAL AUGUST TEMPERATURES RETURN THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK AND MAY INCREASEE TO ABOVE NORMAL BY THE END OF WORK WEEK.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS AROUND 97. WINDS NW 5 - 11 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS SW 6 - 9 MPH.
FRIDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID 90S. WINDS NW 7 - 10 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 50S. WINDS SW 6 - 10 MPH G 20.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS W 5 - 15 MPH G 20.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS W 5 - 15 MPH G 25.
FRIDAY: SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOW 70S. WINDS W 15 - 20 MPH G 35.
FRIDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE LOW 40S. WINDS W 5 - 15 MPH G 30 DECREASING LATER IN THE EVENING.
