FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

TUESDAY, 11-AUG-09, MORNING REPORT

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE POSITIONED OVER THE FOUR CORNERS AREA WILL GIVE US STATUS QUO WEATHER THROUGH WEDNESDAY. ON THURSDAY AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH DEEPENS AND THEN MOVES THROUGH THE PACNW ON FRIDAY. THUS WINDS WILL PICKUP IN SOME AREAS AND A MINOR COOLING TREND WILL DEVELOP THROUGH ABOUT MONDAY OF NEXT WEEK. WITH ALL OF THIS, THE SOUTHERN SIERRA MAY HAVE SOME HAZINESS IN THE AIR FROM THE LA BREA WILDFIRE LOCATED IN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, AND THE MONO COUNTY HIGH COUNTRY STILL HAS THE SLIGHT POSSIBILITY OF THUNDERSTORM ACTION THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS AROUND 97. WINDS S 10 - 15 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS SE 5 - 11 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS AROUND 97. WINDS S 10 - 13 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS S 3 - 11 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS SW 5 - 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: SOME CLOUDS THEN CLEARING. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS SW 5 - 15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS S 5 - 10 MPH.
