And speaking of the Mokelumne River and Monte Wolfe...

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

And speaking of the Mokelumne River and Monte Wolfe...

Post by mokelumnekid »

Anyone who has tried to hike downstream on the N. Fork. Mokelumne River from Hermit Valley can attest to the fact that it is a brushy nighmare after about 4 miles. The river (when I go in August) is usually quite low and not very exciting. So imagine my surprise to discover that it is a serious Spring kayak run all the way from Hermit Valley to Salt Springs called "Fantasy Falls." For some eye-popping video of people doing this incredible class V+ route see this link, and think that this was Monte's stomping grounds:

It is a little slow to load so give it time before starting to watch.
