FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

THURSDAY, 30-JUL-09, MORNING REPORT

HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THE WESTERN U.S. WITH AN UPPER LOW OFF THE COAST. WITH THAT, TEMPERATURES DID DROP A FEW DEGREES YESTERDAY, DROPPING BELOW THE 100 DEGREE MARK IN THE OWENS VALLEY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF. THERE CONTINUES TO BE SUFFICIENT MOISTURE AVAILABLE TO GIVE THE HIGH COUNTRY AN ON-GOING CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH SATURDAY. AND THE OWENS VALLEY, WILL SEE CONTINUED WARM TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE WEEKEND, BUT CLOSER TO NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS AROUND 99. WINDS SE 5 - 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. WINDS NW 6 -11 MPH.
FRIDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS AROUND 99. WINDS SE 10 - 15 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS SE 6 - 11 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: 30% CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S. WINDS W 5 MPH.
