FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

TUESDAY, 28-JUL-09, MORNING REPORT

OUR HOT RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS FINALLY BEING SUPPRESED JUST A BIT BUY A COOL NORTHEASTERLY FLOW ALOFT. THIS SHOULD GRADUALLY DROP TEMPERATURES A FEW DEGREES BY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AND INCREASE THE CHANCES OF THUNDERSTORM ACTION OVER THE CREST WEDNESDAY. BY FRIDAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND A CUTOFF LOW WILL LINGER SOMEWHERE OF THE NORCAL COAST AND THIS SHOULD DROP TEMPERATRUEWS TO THE UPPER 90S. HAVING SAID ALL THIS, TEMPERATURES WILL STILL BE RUNNING AT OR SLIGHTY ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH THE FORECAST PERIOD.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT. HIGHS AROUND 101. WINDS S 6 - 9 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. WINDS S 5 - 8 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT. SLIGHT CHANCE OF HIGH BASED THUNDERSTORMS . HIGHS AROUND 100. WINDS NW 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. WINDS NW 7 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 80S. WINDS W 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. WINDS W 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: 30% CHANCE OF AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS WITH SCATTERED CLOUDS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S. WINDS W 5 - 10 MPH.
