FORECAST 27-JUL-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

MONDAY, 27-JUL-09, MORNING REPORT

THUNDERSTORMS FIRED UP ALONG THE SIERRA CREST YESTERDAY ALONG WITH ISOLATED HEAVY RAIN, WHILE TEMPERATURES IN THE VALLEYS REMAIN HOT. THUNDERSTORM ACTION IS STILL EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN THROUGH WEDNESDAY, THOUGH SOMEWHAT SUPPRESSED AS THE HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM, CREATING ALL OUR HEAT, HAS MOVED TO A POSITION IN AND AROUND NORTHWEST MEXICO. I EXPECT THINGS TO CONTINUE ON THE HOT SIDE FOR THE VALLEYS THROUGH THE WEEK WITH AN ON-GOING CHANCE OF HIGH BASED THUNDERSTORMS. A REX BLOCK SETS UP AROUND SATURDAY WHICH WILL DECREASE THE MOISTURE INTO OUR AREA AND THUS THE CHANCES OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL DIMINISH. ALSO THERES A CHANCE THAT WE WILL GET SOME COOLING ON THE WEEKEND. WE WILL AHVE TO WAIT AND SEE.
