FORECAST 13-JUL-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

MONDAY, 13-JUL-09, MORNING REPORT

FOR THE PAST WEEK OR SO, THERE HAS BEEN A MAJOR BATTLE BETWEEN AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OVER TEXAS AND A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OF THE PACNW COAST. RIGHT NOW THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE HAS WON THE BATTLE AND THE WAR AND IS SLOWLY MIGRATING INTO CALIFORNIA. WHAT THIS ALL MEANS FOR US, IS THAT WE ARE IN FOR A WARM UP BY MID WEEK AND BEYOND, WITH THURSDAY AND FRIDAY BEING QUITE HOT INDEED. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 105 IN THE OWENS VALLEY AND THE MID 80S FOR MAMMOTH. WHAT THIS ALSO MEANS IS THAT A FULL MONSOON IS READY TO GIVE BIRTH OVER ARIZONA AND IT MAY START TRANSITIONING NORTHWESTWARD AS EARLY AS THIS WEEKEND. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES.

AND I'D LIKE TO SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WIFE MONTRE'
