FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

FRIDAY, 10-JUL-09, MORNING REPORT

MID AND HIGH LEVEL MOISTURE WILL STREAM INTO OUR AREA TODAY AND SATURDAY LEADING TO THE POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY. THIS IS PARTLY DUE TO THE REMMANTS OF TROPICAL STORM BLANCA MOVING NORTHWARD FROM MEXICO. THE BEST CHANCE FOR THIS ACTIVITY WILL BE IN MONO COUNTY ON SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY MORNING. WINDS WILL ALSO PICK UP IN MONO COUNTY LATER TODAY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. LATER SUNDAY, DRIER AIR WILL PREVAIL AS HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE TEXAS AREA MIGRATES WESTWARD. THIS HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE WILL REMAIN RELATIVITY FLAT, RESULTING IN LITTLE DAY TO DAY TEMPERATURE VARIATION THROUGH MOST IF NEXT WEEK.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT. HIGHS IN THE IN THE UPPER 90S. WINDS SE 7 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. WINDS S 6 - 11 MPH.
SATURDAY: A MAINLY SUNNY SKY AND CONTINUED WARM. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 90S. WINDS S 5 - 10 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS S 5 - 11 MPH.
