FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

THURSDAY, 02-JUL-09, MORNING REPORT

A PRONOUNCED SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL CONTINUE THE THREAT OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY TODAY. BY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, DRIER AIR MOVES IN REDUCING THE CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. ON SUNDAY, A TROUGH SETTLES IN OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST AND IT PLACES OUR AREA ON THE DRY AND STABLE SIDE, COOLING THINGS DOWN JUST A BIT, INCREASING THE WINDS AND KEEPING THUNDERSTORMS OUT OF THE PICTURE UNTIL THE MID PART OF NEXT WEEK.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: SUN AND CLOUDS MIXED. A 30% CHANCE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE MID 90S. WINDS SE 10 - 15 MPH.
TONIGHT: A 30% CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS S 5 - 11 MPH.
FRIDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 90S. WINDS SE 5 -15 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: SOME CLOUDS OVER THE MTNS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS SE 5 - 8 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. CHANCE OF RAIN 40%. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS S 5 - 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. A 20% CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS S 5 - 10 MPH.
