Fire Near Yosemite??

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Fire Near Yosemite??

Post by BSquared »

Hi, all,

I just checked the Yosemite webcam, and it looks like there's smoke all over the place, especially west of the park (the "air quality" cam looks pretty grim). Anybody know what's up? I couldn't find anything from way out here on the right coast.

Looks like two fires, and several trails are closed:

Friday afternoon July 3 two of we photographers were set up for some late light shots in Desolation Wilderness and about 6pm lots of high altitude smoke moved over the region making for dirty brown lousy light. So now I know where it came from. Saturday morning the sky above was blue, however there was still considerable dirty air out east of Tahoe. By Sunday air quality improved.
