FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

THURSDAY, 25-JUN-09, MORNING REPORT

THE CLOSED LOW OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST HAS FINALLY DECIDED TO KICK INLAND TODAY. IT WILL MOVE ACROSS CENTRAL CALIFORNIA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. IT HAS JUST ENOUGH MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY TO GIVE THE AREA A CHANCE OF A FEW SHOWERS AND T-STORMS INTO FRIDAY. THINGS WARM UP AS THAT LOW MOVES EASTWARD LATER FRIDAY. THEN HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE DESERT SW MERGES WITH AN EASTERN PACIFIC RIDGE, BRINGING WARM TEMPERATURES AND SUNNY SKIES TO OUR FORECAST AREA SATURDAY THROUGH THE MID PART OF NEXT WEEK.

MOUNT WHITNEY WILL HAVE A 50% CHANCE OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND T-STORMS LATER TODAY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF HIGH ELEVATION SNOW SHOWERS TONIGHT. WINDS SE 15 - 20 MPH G 30.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: SUNSHINE THEN PM CLOUDS WITH A 30% CHANCE OF T-STORMS LATER TODAY . HIGHS IN THE MID 90S. WINDS SE 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
TONIGHT: CONTINUED CHANCE OF T-STORMS THIS EVENING THEN CLEARING LATE. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS S 6 - 10 MPH.
FRIDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 90S. WINDS NW 5 - 8 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS NW 5 - 10 MPH.
