FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER

MONDAY, 22-JUN-09, MORNING REPORT

REMNANTS OF AN UPPER TROUGH THAT BROUGHT BREEZY CONDITIONS AND SOME CLOUDS TO MONO COUNTY YESTERDAY, STILL HOLDS THE POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TODAY FOR THE MONO AREA. FOR THE OWENS VALLEY A DRY SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL GIVE IT MANLY CLEAR SKIES AND SLIGHT WARMING TEMPERATURES. AS THIS HAPPENS A CUT OFF LOW DEVELOPS OF THE CA COAST AND IT WILL LINGER THERE UNTIL ABOUT WEDNESDAY. ON WEDNESDAY IT MOVES INLAND, INCREASING MID LEVEL CLOUDS AND GIVING US A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CREST. THIS INSTABILITY CONTINUES ON THURSDAY. FRIDAY THE LOW MOVES EASTWARD, REPLACED BY A LARGE FLAT RIDGE WHICH WILL GRADUALLY INCREASE TEMPERATURES ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY TO SEASONAL NORMS.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S. WINDS NE 6 - 14 MPH G 20.
TONIGHT: MOSLTY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 50S. WINDS SE 7 - 9 MPH.
TUESDAY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 90S. WINDS NW 5 - 15 MPH G 21.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. WINDS SE 6 - 10 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: 10% CHANCE OF ISOLATED SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE MID 60S. WINDS E 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: CONTINUED 10% CHANCE OF ISOLATED SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS. LOWS IN THE LOWER 40S. WINDS N 5 MPH.
TUESDAY: LOTS OF SUNSHINE WITH HIGHS IN THE LOWER 70S. WINDS N 5 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE LOWER 40S. WINDS S 5 MPH.

FOR MONO COUNTY:

TODAY: INCREASING AFTERNOON CLOUDS WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS 65 - 75. WINDS E 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CREST. LOWS 34 - 44. WINDS N 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: SUNNY. HIGHS 73 - 83. WINDS SE 10 MPH.
