FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

FRIDAY, 19-JUN-09, MORNING REPORT

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL KEEP BOTH TEMPERATURES UP AND SKIES MOSTLY CLEAR TODAY. HOWEVER, THIS WILL BE SHORT LIVED AS AN EASTERN PACIFIC LONG WAVE TROUGH WILL DROP INTO CALIFORNIA LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL CREATE THE CHANCE OF ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CREST. WINDS WILL ALSO BE AN ISSUE LATER TODAY INTO SUNDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL COOL DOWN A BIT AS WELL WITH THIS SYSTEM OVER THE WEEKEND. STARTING MONDAY, HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN FROM THE SOUTHEAST AND CREATE A WARMING TREND WITH DRYING CONDITIONS AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES, PARTICULARLY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY. VERY SUMMER LIKE WEATHER INDEED.

FOR THE MT. WHITNEY AREA TONIGHT: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH WINDY CONDITIONS. SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE LOW 90S. WINDS SW 10 - 15 MPH.
TONIGHT: SOME CLOUDS OVER THE MTNS. LOWS IN THE MID 50S. WINDS NW 10 - 15 MPH.
SATURDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 90S. WINDS NW 5 - 10 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: A FEW CLOUDS. LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. WINDS SE 6 - 9 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:
