FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

THURSDAY, 18-JUN-09, MORNING REPORT

AN UPPER RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL GRADUALLY NOSE IT'S WAY OVER CALIFORNIA PROVIDING US WITH WARMING TEMPERATURES AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES TODAY AND MOST OF TOMORROW. THE ONLY EXCEPTION WILL BE THE SIERRA CREST, WHICH WILL SEE PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AT TIMES AND SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON, A VERY FAST PACED SHORTWAVE DRIVES THROUGH BRINGING ANOTHER ROUND OF UNSETTLED WEATHER TO THE HIGH COUNTRY FRIDAY EVENING ALONG WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL SEE MUCH LESS ACTIVITY OVER THE CREST WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES. MONDAY THROUGH MID WEEK SEES A WARMING TREND AND MOSTLY DRY CONDITIONS, ALMOST JUNE LIKE.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S/LOW 90S. WINDS NW LIGHT.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS W 5 MPH.
FRIDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AND A BIT BREEZY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 90S. WINDS SW 15 - 20 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A FEW CLOUDS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. WINDS SW 10 - 15 DECREASING TO 6 - 9 MPH.

FOR THE MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

TODAY: 10% CHANCE OF PM SCATTERED SHOWERS UNDER PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 60S. WINDS W 5 - 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: ISOLATED SHOWERS IN THE EARLY EVENING. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 10%. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS W 5 MPH.
FRIDAY: SUNSHINE A FEW AFTERNOON CLOUDS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE . HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS SW 15 - 25 MPH.
