DMATT'S SNOW REPORT 05-JUN-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

DMATT'S SNOW REPORT 05-JUN-09

Post by dmatt »

FOR THOSE GOING INTO THE WHITNEY BACKCOUNTRY TODAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. 60% CHANCE OF UPPER ELEVATION SNOW SHOWERS. THIS WOULD BE AT OR ABOVE 9,000 FEET. EXPECTED SNOW AMOUNTS 3 - 8 INCHES BY SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY. THUNDER SNOW A REAL POSSIBILITY. GUSTY, ERRATIC WINDS POSSIBLE WITH COOL OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES. WHITNEY PORTAL CAN EXPECT A DUSTING AT ANY TIME TODAY AND SATURDAY.

I WILL TRY TO UPDATE AS NECESSARY.

8:17 AM - LIGHT RAIN FALLING IN PARTS OF THE OWENS VALLEY AND SCATTERED SNOW IN ONION VALLEY.
