FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

FRIDAY, 05-JUN-09, MORNING REPORT

AFTER A WEEK SITTING OFF THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA COAST, THAT PACIFIC LOW WILL TRUDGE INLAND TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY. WE CAN EXPECT GUSTY WINDS, SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS, COOL TEMPERATURES AND EVEN SOME MOUNTAIN SNOW TODAY AND OVER THE WEEKEND. SNOW LEVELS SHOULD RUN ABOUT 8,000 FEET OR SO, WITH 3 - 5 INCHES IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS POSSIBLE TODAY. RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS WILL STILL BE POSSIBLE ON SATURDAY WITH SOME RESIDUAL MOISTURE ON SUNDAY AS THE LOW KICKS EAST. LINGERING MID-LEVEL MOISTURE WE GIVE US UNSETTLED WEATHER INTO THE MID PART OF NEXT WEEK. RIGHT NOW AT LEAST, ANOTHER PIECE OF PACIFIC ENERGY IS PROGGED TO MOVE THROUGH SOCAL ON OR ABOUT WEDNESDAY, CONTINUING OUR VERY UNUSUAL JUNE TREND OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CREST.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: 30% CHANCE SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS S 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
THIS EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 30% CHANCE OF SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS. LOWS IN THE MID TO UPPER 40S. WINDS S 5 -15 MPH.
SATURDAY: A 40% CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS SE 5 - 10 MPH.
SATURDAY EVENING: A 30% CHANCE OF SCATTERED SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS SE 7 - 10 MPH.
