FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

WEDNESDAY, 29-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENTS WILL BEGIN TO RELAX TODAY AS A SHORTWAVE IN THE PACNW STARTS TO MOVE EASTWARD. IN ITS PLACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN THROUGH MID DAY FRIDAY PROVIDING VERY NICE WEATHER FOR US. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM A FEW DEGREES WITHIN THIS TIME PERIOD. CLOUD COVER WILL THEN BEGIN TO INCREASE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AHEAD OF A TROUGH WHICH WILL MOVE INLAND FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY. THERE SHOULD BE DECENT DYNAMICS TO SPREAD A CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION THOUGH MOST OF OUR FORECAST AREA. THE PRESSURE GRADIENTS WILL BE FAIRLY LOOSE, KEEPING THE WINDS TO A MANAGEABLE LEVEL. BECAUSE THERE WILL BE A WARM SUB-TROPICAL TAP WITH THIS SYSTEM, SNOW LEVELS SHOULD REMAIN QUITE HIGH WITH ACCUMULATIONS LIMITED TO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THINGS CLEAR OUT FOR THE OWENS VALLEY STARTING ON SUNDAY, BUT REMAIN UNSETTLED THROUGH NEXT TUESDAY FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY.

TODAY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S. WINDS SW @ 4 - 7 MPH.
THIS EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. WINDS NW @ 5 - 8 MPH.
THURSDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 80S. WINDS W @ 10 - 15 MPH.
THURSDAY EVENING: MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE LOWER 40S. WINDS NW @ 6 - 8 MPH.
