FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

FRIDAY, 23-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

A DEVELOPING LOW CURRENTLY RUNNING ALONG THE OREGON / CALIFORNIA BORDER WILL DROP SOUTHWARD INTO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AS THE DAY PROGRESSES. AS OF NOW, THAT LOW SHOULD MOVE THROUGH OUR FORECAST AREA LATER TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY, THEN EJECT EASTWARD SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY. WITH ALL OF THIS, WE CAN EXPECT GUSTY WINDS AND A CHANCE OF SHOWERS TODAY INTO SATURDAY WITH IMPROVING CONDITIONS SUNDAY. TODAY SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS SHOULD DEVELOP OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND IN THE VALLEYS OF MONO COUNTY, WITH THOSE SHOWERS DECREASING ON SATURDAY. ALSO, THERE WILL A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS FOR THE OWENS VALLEY TODAY AND TOMORROW. MONDAY AND TUESDAY ANOTHER UPPER TROUGH DROPS DOWN FROM THE PACNW TO GIVE UNSETTLED WEATHER.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 70S. WINDS BECOMING NW @ 15 - 20 MPH G 30.
THIS EVENING: A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS CONTINUES. LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. WINDS NW @ 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
SATURDAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE MID 60S. WINDS NW @ 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
SATURDAY EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE MID 30S. WINDS DECREASING TO NW @ 5 - 10 MPH.

FOR MAMMOTH LAKES:

TODAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY AND BREEZY WITH A CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW. HIGHS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS SW @ 20 - 25 MPH G 35.
THIS EVENING: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 60% CHANCE SNOW SHOWERS. LOWS IN THE MID 20S. WINDS W @ 5 - 15 MPH G 25.
SATURDAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 30% CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 40S. WINDS N @ 5 - 10 MPH.

THIS EVENING: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SNOW SHOWERS LOWERING TO THE VALLEY FLOOR. LOWS 23 - 33. WINDS NW @ 10 - 15 MPH.
SATURDAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SNOW IN THE MORNING. HIGHS 46 - 56. WINDS NW @ 10 - 15 MPH.
