FORECAST 22-APR-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

WEDNESDAY, 22-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

A WEAK UPPER LOW CONTINUES TO SLIDE BENEATH THE LARGE WESTERN RIDGE PROVIDING US WITH SOME HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS. WITH THAT, THERES ENOUGH CONVECTION POTENTIAL TO GIVE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON. THAT WESTERN RIDGE STARTS TO FLATTEN TODAY AS A DEEP TROUGH DROPS SOUTH INTO THE PACNW, SO SLIGHT COOLING IS EXPECTED. MORE COOLING THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK AS THAT TROUGH SWINGS THROUGH OUR REGION. SOME PRECIPITATION CHANCES EXIST ON FRIDAY OVER THE SIERRA ALONG WITH LOCALLY WINDY CONDITIONS FOR MOST AREAS ON BOTH THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. WE WILL BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A NORTHERLY FLOW WITH A DOWN STREAM TROUGH LINGERING OVER THE WEST COAST THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THIS WILL KEEP TEMPERATURES ON THE COOL SIDE WITH AN ON-GOING CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN MONO COUNTY.
