FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER

TUESDAY, 21-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

A WEAK UPPER LOW HAS SNUCK UNDER THE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE AND WILL SPIN SOME HIGH CLOUDS OVER OUR AREA TODAY. OTHERWISE CONTINUED WARM TEMPERATURES. THEN STARTING ON WEDNESDAY THE UPPER RIDGE STARTS TO BREAK DOWN IN PREPARATION FOR A LARGER TROUGH DROPPING DOWN INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ON THURSDAY. WEDNESDAY WILL STILL BE WARM AND THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY OVER THE MOUNTAINS WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS IN SOME AREAS. ON THURSDAY WE WILL HAVE AN INCREASE IN THE WINDS AS PRESSURE GRADIENTS TIGHTEN. A WIND ADVISORY IS POSSIBLE HERE. FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND OUR FORECAST AREA WILL HAVE UNSETTLED WEATHER WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS, A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY

TODAY: PARTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S. WINDS SW 6 - 9 MPH.
THIS EVENING: SOME CLOUDS. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. WINDS NW 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: A MIX OF SUNSHINE AND CLOUDS. HIGHS IN THE MID 80S. WINDS SW 9 - 12 MPH G 20.
