Re: Tioga Road plowing started?
Dont get your hopes up for an eraly road opening. I dont think Caltrans goes into the park unless its a heavy snow year which this year it is not. Most of the time they just plow a little ways past the gate to the first pullout (Gaylor Lake) trailhead. From what I understand....its all up to the park service from here on out unless, Caltrans got permission to keep going.
Get me a flag......and next year......you will see HST flyn on the cam.

Find me a cheap place to have one made. Not terribly excited by high probability it'll be taken down and become someone else's property after only one season.

Piece of cake.

Here's another volunteering to hoist it up there...although, last time someone placed something in front of a yosemite webcam it shut down for quite a while, perhaps by the park service (someone placed something that looked like 'chewbacca' in front of the Sentinel Dome cam )

seems like this group should have a flag anyway. Just wondering if the NPS would mind us using their flagpole.

Re: Tioga Road plowing started?
Now they haven't updated since the 21st and there has not been any bad weather
so who is volunteering to go up there to check out the true status of plowing?

Re: Tioga Road plowing started?
Latest update indicates road plowed to Yosemite Creek. Now the dangerous stuff starts. 3 feet of snow at 8,000 feet. Looks good for Memorial Day and my post Memorial Day trip to start from White Wolf.

Re: Tioga Road plowing started?
Ah yes I see they have finally updated thanks OR.
Where is your destination out of White Wolf OR, not GCT is it? If yes, I am also going
there but next week for 5 nights, I'll be starting from the Hetchy Ranger Station going
thru Smith Meadow, I will spend the first night at Waterwheel.
I am planning to get some moon light shots of Waterwheel and LeConte Falls, go to
Wildcat Point/Matte Lake, and also see if I can hike thru the Gorge.

Re: Tioga Road plowing started?
Maverick,
Planning on checking out the fishing in the lakes near Pleasant Valley maybe even a day hike up Piute creek to the lower end of Benson.
If if warms up your trip up the gorge could be more than a little bit interesting. One of my all time best sunsets occurred on the West Rim of Mattie looking across the canyon toward Falls Ridge, Tuolumne, Grand, and Colby after 2 days of thunderstorms. If you had been there you'd have had a memorable photo. I think I have some shots from my Olympus XA somewhere.
