FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

WEDNESDAY, 15-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

THE FRONTAL SYSTEM THAT BROUGHT A FEW SHOWERS TO THE OWENS VALLEY, LIGHT SNOW TO THE HIGH COUNTRY AND WINDY CONDITIONS TO ALL, CONTINUES TO MOVE SLOWLY SOUTHWESTERLY. WE CAN EXPECT SCATTERED SHOWERS TO CONTINUE TODAY WITH ADVISORY LEVEL WINDS INCREASING AGAIN TODAY AND THIS EVENING. TEMPERATURES WILL HAVE A HARD TIME RECOVERING TODAY. THOSE WINDS AND LINGERING MOUNTAIN SHOWERS WILL BEGIN TO WIND DOWN BY TONIGHT OR TOMORROW MORNING. THEN A BIG CHANGE IN OUR WEATHER BEGINS FRIDAY AND INTO THE MID PART OF NEXT WEEK. A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN OVER THE WESTERN U.S., BRINGING US A STRONG, STEADY WARMING TREND THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND INTO MID NEXT WEEK. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES FOR THE OWENS VALLEY WILL BE IN THE MID 80S BY MONDAY OR TUESDAY AND MONO COUNTY WILL SEE HIGHS RANGING FOR THE MID 60S TO THE MID 70S IN THAT SAME TIME PERIOD.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS. HIGHS IN THE MID 50S. WINDS BECOMING NW 15 - 20 MPH G 30.
THIS EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE LOWER 30S. WINDS NW 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
THURSDAY: SUNSHINE WITH CLOUDY INTERVALS. HIGHS IN THE MID 60S. WINDS NW 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
THURSDAY EVENING: CLEAR. LOWS IN THE MID 30S. WINDS NW 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
