FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

TUESDAY, 07-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

WELL, AFTER A FEW UNSEASONABLY WARM DAYS, TWO APPROACHING STORM SYSTEMS WILL BRING UNSETTLED WEATHER WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES TO OUR FORECAST AREA. THE FIRST WILL GIVE US A CHANCE OF RAIN IN THE VALLEYS AND A GOOD SHOT OF SNOW IN THE UPPER ELEVATIONS THROUGH WEDNESDAY. IN ADDITION, THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS POSSIBLE OVER THE MOUNTAINS WITH GUSTY WINDS IN BOTH THE VALLEYS AND HIGH COUNTRY. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MONO COUNTY FROM 11PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 11 AM WEDNESDAY. IN ADDITION, A WIND ADVISORY FOR INYO COUNTY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR NOON TODAY THROUGH 8 PM THIS EVENING. THE SECOND SYSTEM BARRELS ITS WAY THROUGH WITH ON-GOING COOL TEMPERATURES AND YET ANOTHER CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION FOR US THURSDAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY. RIGHT NOW, SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY LOOKS TO BE DRY WITH WARMING TEMPERATURES.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: PARTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 70S. WINDS INCREASING TO SE 20 - 30 MPH G 40 THIS AFTERNOON.
THIS EVENING: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 30% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS IN THE MID 30S. BREEZY WITH WINDS SE 20 - 30 MPH G 40 THEN DECREASING TO 7 - 11 AFTER MIDNIGHT.
WEDNESDAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 60S. WINDS NE 10 - 15 MPH G 25.
WEDNESDAY EVENING: MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE MID 30S. WINDS NW 6 - 10 MPH G 20.
