FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

MONDAY, 06-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

A VERY LARGE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM CONTINUES TO WORK ITS WAY TOWARD OUR AREA. AHEAD OF IT WILL BE A WARM SOUTHERLY FLOW GIVING US LOCALLY BREEZY CONDITIONS WITH COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURES. THE SYSTEM LOOKS LIKE IT WILL REACH THE WEST COAST ABOUT TUESDAY AND MOVE INLAND, GIVING OUR AREA THE BEST CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION LATER TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY. IT WILL ALSO BRING A COOLER AIR MASS ALLOWING FOR A CHANCE OF SNOW IN THE UPPER ELEVATIONS. ANOTHER SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH ON THURSDAY, EXITING ON SATURDAY. HERE THE BEST CHANCE FOR SHOWER ACTIVITY IS ON FRIDAY INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. LINGERING SHOWERS ON SATURDAY MORNING THEN FAIR WEATHER ON SUNDAY.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS SE 15 - 20 MPH G 30 THIS AFTERNOON.
THIS EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE MID 30S. WINDS SE 1O - 15 MPH G 20.
TUESDAY: PARTLY SUNNY TO PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 70S. WINDS LIGHT BECOMING SE 10 - 20 MPH G 35.
TUESDAY EVENING: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 30% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. WINDS SW 6 - 10 MPH.
