FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

FRIDAY, 03-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

SECOND SHORTWAVE WILL PUNCH THROUGH THE AREA TODAY, CREATING PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES, A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SCATTERED PRECIPITATION AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS IN SOME LOCATIONS. TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO COOL DOWN AS MUCH AS 10 DEGREES OR MORE FROM YESTERDAY. A WIND ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR OUR FORECAST AREA FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM TONIGHT. WE CAN EXPECT BLOWING DUST AND REDUCED VISIBILITES IN SOME AREAS ALONG HWY 395 PARTICULARLY IN INYO COUNTY. AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN OVER THE WEEKEND FOR WARMING TEMPERATURES AND MUCH REDUCED WINDS. NEXT SYSTEM DUE IN ABOUT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY WITH THE BEST SHOT A PRECIPITATION ON TUESDAY NIGHT. AND YOU GUESSED IT, MORE STRONG WINDS WILL BE IN STORE FOR US.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH BLOWING DUST POSSIBLE AND A 20% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGHS IN THE MID 50S. VERY WINDY TODAY WITH WINDS NW 30 - 40 MPH G 50.
THIS EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE MID 20S. WINDS N 20 - 25 MPH G 30 DECREASING TO 8 - 11 LATER TONIGHT.
SATURDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOW 60S. WINDS N 7 - 9 MPH.
