FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

WEDNESDAY, 01-APR-09, MORNING REPORT

A WEAK SHORTWAVE MOVING ACROSS UTAH TODAY WILL BRING US GUSTY WINDS AND CONTINUED DRY CONDITIONS. THE NEXT SHORTWAVE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE PACNW ON THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. THIS WILL BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF GUSTY WINDS AND ISOLATED SHOWER ACTIVITY TO THE AREA. THE MAIN CONCERN HERE WILL BE THE WINDS AND A WIND WATCH HAS BEEN HOISTED FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY. WIND ADVISORIES WILL MOST LIKELY BE ISSUED FOR THAT TIME PERIOD AS WELL. WARMING TEMPERATURES TODAY AND TOMORROW THEN A COOL DOWN ON FRIDAY. ON SATURDAY WEAK HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN OVER THE REGION, FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER SYSTEM APPROACHING THE AREA ON SUNDAY INTO MONDAY AND YOU GUESSED IT, MORE WINDS. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LITTLE MORE MOISTURE, SO THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS ON MONDAY OVER THE SIERRA. THIS IS A VERY CHANGING PATTERN, SO STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES.

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 70S. WINDS NW 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
THIS EVENING: A FEW CLOUDS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. WINDS NW 7 - 11 MPH.
THURSDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. WINDS W 15 - 20 MPH G 35.
THURSDAY EVENING: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. WINDS W 15 - 20 MPH G 30.
