FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER

FRIDAY, 27-FEB-09, 7:05 AM

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BUILD OVER THE AREA TODAY AND SATURDAY GIVING US PARTLY SUNNY TO MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AND DRY CONDITIONS. PERIODS OF HIGH CLOUDS WILL BEGIN TO MOVE IN SATURDAY NIGHT AHEAD OF A RAPIDLY DEVELOPING STORM SYSTEM OFF THE COAST AND THIS WILL BRING A CHANCE OF MOISTURE TO THE AREA, PARTICULARLY IN MONO COUNTY, ON SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY. SNOW LEVELS SHOULD REMAIN HIGH, 6,500 TO 7,500 FEET IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. UNSETTLED WEATHER FOR NEXT WEEK WITH TWO SYSTEMS PUSHING THROUGH ON OR ABOUT TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL DROP WITH THE LAST SYSTEM DOWN TO ABOUT 5,000 FEET. THE OWENS VALLEY COULD RECEIVE NEEDED RAIN WITH ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS.

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 60S. WINDS NW 7 MPH.
TONIGHT: CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S. WINDS W 3 - 5 MPH.
SATURDAY: INTERVALS OF CLOUDS AND SUN. HIGHS IN THE MID 60S. WINDS S 10 - 15 MPH G 20.
SATURDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE MID 30S. WINDS S 7 - 15 MPH G 20.

FOR MAMMOTH AND JUNE LAKES:

TODAY: MOSTLY SUNNY WITH A FEW CLOUDS. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 40S. WINDS W 10 MPH G 20.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE UPPER TEENS. WINDS W 5 MPH.
