FORECAST 12-FEB-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

NOT MUCH HAPPENED LAST NIGHT AS THE ANTICIPATED COLD FRONT SPLIT BE FORE IT REACHED US. HOWEVER A FEW INCHES OF NEW SNOW DID FALL OVER THE CREST. MOSTLY DRY TODAY AND TONIGHT AHEAD OF A COLDER, MODERATE SYSTEM FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY MORNING. THIS SYSTEM SHOULD PROVIDE OUR AREA WITH MORE PRECIPITATION THAN THE LAST TWO HAVING THE POTENTIAL TO DROP UP TO 24 INCHES OF SNOW OVER THE CREST AND MAYBE AN INCH OR TWO ON THE OWENS VALLEY FLOOR. RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS TO BE DRY LATER IN THE DAY ON SATURDAY THEN ANOTHER WETTER, SLOWER MOVING STORM VISITS US ON SUNDAY INTO MONDAY OF NEXT WEEK. THIS SYSTEM COULD BE A REAL SNOW MAKER, PARTICULARLY IN THE UPPER ELEVATIONS AND OVER THE CREST.
