FORECAST 10-FEB-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

WE ARE STILL LOOKING AT UNSETTLED WEATHER THROUGH THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK, AS A SERIES OF COLD STORMS ARE SET TO EFFECT US. YESTERDAYS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM HAS EXITED THE AREA, LEAVING BEHIND BREEZY CONDITIONS IN SOME AREAS AND BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKIES. CLOUDS WILL ENTER THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AHEAD OF A WEAK SYSTEM WHICH WILL BRING LIGHT SNOW TO MONO COUNTY LATE TONIGHT AND INTO WEDNESDAY, WITH LIGHT RAIN POSSIBLE IN THE OWENS VALLEY. LINGERING SHOWERS, GIVING US A SLIGHT BREAK IN THE ACTION FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AHEAD OF ANOTHER COLD SYSTEM PROGGED TO MOVE THROUGH ABOUT FRIDAY AFTERNOON / EVENING INTO THE WEEKEND. THIS SYSTEM WILL TRACK FURTHER SOUTH THUS FAVORING THE SOUTHERN SIERRA AND COULD BRING SNOW TO THE OWENS VALLEY FLOOR. RIGHT NOW AT LEAST, MONDAY LOOKS TO GIVE US A BREAK BEFORE ANOTHER SYSTEM MOVES IN ABOUT TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. TIMING IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE SO STAY TUNED FOR ON-GOING UPDATES.
