FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

TUESDAY, 03-FEB-09, 7:11

DRY WEATHER AND CONTINUED ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES THROUGH WEDNESDAY, COURTESY OF A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER OUR OUR REGION. LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY AN UPPER TROUGH PUSHES ONSHORE AND BRINGS TO OUR AREA A SLIGHT CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION ON THURSDAY. A SECOND SYSTEM THEN MOVES THROUGH ON FRIDAY, WITH AN ONGOING CHANCE OF VALLEY RAIN AND UPPER ELEVATION SNOW INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. SNOW LEVELS WILL START HIGH WITH THE FIRST SYSTEM THEN LOWER TO ABOUT 5,000 FEET AS THE SECOND SYSTEM MOVES IN. POSSIBLE RESIDUAL MOISTURE ON SUNDAY THEN WEAK RIDGING BUILDS FOR DRYING CONDITIONS ON MONDAY.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGHS AROUND 68. NORTHWEST WIND 8 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LOWS AROUND 29. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS AROUND 64. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS AROUND 35. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 25.

FOR MAMMOTH LAKES:

TODAY: SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGHS AROUND 50. SOUTH WIND 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LOWS AROUND 25. SOUTH WIND 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY WITH HIGHS NEAR 50. SOUTH WIND 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 25. SOUTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
