FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER

MONDAY, 02-FEB-09, 7:14

DRY WEATHER AND TEMPERATURES RUNNING ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH THE MID PART OF THE WEEK, ALL COURTESY OF A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER OUR OUR REGION. ALL THIS WILL CHANGE AS A SERIES OF PACIFIC STORMS MOVE INLAND LATE IN THE WEEK, GIVING THE HIGH COUNTRY A CHANCE OF SNOW AND THE VALLEYS A CHANCE OF RAIN. SO, BY THURSDAY NIGHT THE FIRST SYSTEM WILL PUSH INLAND WITH SNOW LEVELS QUITE HIGH. ON FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY A COLDER, TRAILING SYSTEM WILL BRING A CONTINUED CHANCE OF RAIN TO THE VALLEYS WITH LOWER SNOW LEVELS TO THE HIGH COUNTRY TO ABOUT 5,000 FEET.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGHS AROUND 66. NORTHWEST WIND 6 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LOWS AROUND 28. NORTHWEST WIND 5 MPH.
TUESDAY: LOTS OF SUNSHINE. HIGHS AROUND 68. NORTHWEST WIND 7 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MAINLY CLEAR WITH EVENING LOWS AROUND 30. NORTHWEST WIND 5 -9 MPH.

FOR MAMMOTH LAKES:

TODAY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES WITH HIGHS AROUND 49. EAST WIND 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: CLEAR WITH LOWS AROUND 26. SOUTH WIND 5 MPH.
TUESDAY: SUNNY WITH HIGHS NEAR 50. SOUTH WIND 5 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 26. SOUTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

FOR THE REST OF MONO COUNTY:

TODAY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES WITH HIGHS 49 - 59. NORTH WIND LIGHT.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LOWS 14 - 24. LIGHT WIND.
TUESDAY: MAINLY SUNNY WITH HIGHS 51 - 61. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LOWS 17 - 27. SOUTH WIND 10 MPH.
