FORECAST 13-JAN-09

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

TUESDAY, 13-JAN-09, 7:02

DRY WEATHER FOR OUR AREA CONTINUES AS THE BIG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE EDGES CLOSER TO THE WEST COAST. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL, PARTICULARLY IN THE UPPER ELEVATIONS THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY. THIS DRY, STABLE AND AMPLIFIED PATTERN LOOKS TO BE WITH US UNTIL THE MID PART OF NEXT WEEK OR MORE. RIGHT NOW AT LEAST, I AM NOT SEEING MUCH IN THE WAY OF PRECIPITATION IN THE FORECAST THROUGH JANUARY 23RD. THIS COULD CHANGE SO STAY TUNED FOR DAILY UPDATES.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: PLENTIFUL SUNSHINE. HIGHS NEAR 68. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: CLEAR SKIES WITH LOWS AROUND 30. NORTHWEST WIND 3 - 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: SUNNY WITH HIGHS AROUND 68. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: CLEAR WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 27. NORTHWEST WIND 7 - 11 MPH.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

TODAY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES WITH HIGHS AROUND 56. NORTHWEST WIND 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: CLEAR SKIES. LOWS AROUND 25. NORTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: LOTS OF SUNSHINE. HIGHS NEAR 52. NORTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: CLEAR WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 26. NORTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.

FOR THE REST OF MONO COUNTY:

TODAY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGHS 51 - 61. NORTHEAST WIND 10 MPH. RIDGE GUSTS TO 60 IN THE MORNING.
TONIGHT: CLEAR. LOWS 12 - 22. NORTH WIND LIGHT.
WEDNESDAY: CLEAR BLUE SKIES WITH HIGHS 46 - 56. NORTH WIND 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: CLEAR WITH LOWS 15 - 25. NORTHEAST WIND LIGHT.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
