Tioga Pass Webcam Update

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Tioga Pass Webcam Update

Just got this e-mail from the university...

Sorry to report that a series of storms took out all the phone lines in
the Tioga Pass Ranger Station. We use the phone lines to send the
images back to Scripps. Therefore, the camera is down until at least
one of the phone lines is repaired which will not likely happen until
the Hwy 120 opens from Lee Vining to the park in late June or early July.

Thanks for the info Mike; I had wondered what was going on with that cam.

I just spoke with the people at UCSD meteorology, and they said they were working on the Tioga Pass webcam essentially at this very moment (2 October 2006). They said they had a lot of work to do, though, and they implied that the webcam was not at the very top of their list, so we can keep our fingers crossed...
