FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

MONDAY, 22-DEC-08, 7:10

GUSTY WINDS DECREASING TODAY IN MONO COUNTY AND CONTINUED SNOWY / RAINY CONDITIONS FOR BOTH MONO AND INYO COUNTIES TODAY AS AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. SECONDARY TROUGH TO PUSH THROUGH TONIGHT, WITH SNOW SHOWERS LIKELY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. THINGS LOOK TO DRY OUT FOR THE OWENS VALLEY ON TUESDAY, BUT STILL A CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN MONO COUNTY AND THE HIGH COUNTRY. UNSETTLED WEATHER ON WEDNESDAY THEN THE NEXT SYSTEM TO PUSH THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO CHRISTMAS DAY WITH SNOW LEVELS POSSIBILITY LOWERING TO THE VALLEY FLOORS. THERE WILL BE SOME POTENTIAL TRAVEL ISSUES ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY FROM THIS SYSTEM SO PLEASE CHECK CALTRANS FOR HWY CONDITIONS. I WILL HAVE STORM UPDATES AS WE GET CLOSER TO CHRISTMAS DAY.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH A 30% CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS. HIGHS AROUND 41. NORTHWEST WIND 9 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF RAIN / SNOW SHOWERS. LOWS AROUND 17. NORTHWEST WIND 7 MPH.
TUESDAY: PARTLY SUNNY WITH HIGHS AROUND 42. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 8 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 18. NORTHEAST WIND 3 - 9 MPH.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

TODAY: PERIODS OF LIGHT SNOW AND MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. DAYTIME HIGHS AROUND 28. WEST WIND 15 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 40.

TUESDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OS SCATTERED SNOW. HIGHS NEAR 29. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
