FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

WEDNESDAY, 17-DEC-08, 7:04

LINGERING MOISTURE AND COLD TEMPERATURES MADE WAY FOR 1 MORE INCHE OF NEW SNOW IN THE ALABAMA HILLS AND TRACE AMOUNTS HERE AND THERE THE OWENS VALLEY FLOOR LAST NIGHT. MAMMOTH MOUNTIAN AS OF TUESDAY HAS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 103.1 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE SEASON. WE WILL BE BETWEEN STORMS TODAY INTO THURSDAY WITH SOME LINGERING SNOW SHOWERS STILL POSSIBLE IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. THE NEXT SHORTWAVE WILL MOVE THROUGH ON THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY, SO MODERATE AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY ALONG WITH FRIGID TEMPERATURES. RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS TO BE MOSTLY DRY THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH TEMPERATURES TO STAY ON THE COLD SIDE. THEN ANOTHER STORM APPROACHES THE WEST COAST STARTING SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY. RIGHT NOW, THIS STORM LOOKS MUCH MORE SEASONAL, WITH SNOW LEVELS AT OR ABOUT 5,000 - 6,000 FEET. ITS STILL A LONG WAYS OUT BUT BEARS WATCHING, ON WEDNESDAY ANOTHER TROUGH IS PROGGED TO REACH CALIFORNIA WITH THE THREAT OF SNOW IN THE HIGH COUNTRY.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH A CHANCE SNOW SHOWERS. HIGHS AROUND 39. NORTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH LOWS AROUND 13. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 7 MPH.
THURSDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY WITH HIGHS AROUND 41. SOUTHWEST WIND 7 - 11 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 15. SOUTHWEST WIND 6 - 10 MPH.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

TODAY: PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS. DAYTIME HIGHS AROUND 20. EAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS AROUND ZERO. CALM WIND.
THURSDAY: PARTLY SUNNY WITH DAYTIME HIGHS NEAR 24. WEST WIND 10 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 40% CHANCE OF SNOW. EVENING LOWS NEAR 8. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 GUSTING TO 25.

TODAY: A MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUN WITH SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE. HIGHS RANGING FROM 15 - 25. SOUTH WIND 10.
TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS. LOWS FROM 1 BELOW TO 9 ABOVE ZERO. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.
THURSDAY: SUNSHINE WITH SOME CLOUDS. HIGHS FROM 22 TO 32. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 40% CHANCE OF LATE NIGHT SNOW SHOWERS. OVERNIGHT LOWS FROM 2 BELOW TO 8 ABOVE ZERO. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 20.
