FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

TUESDAY, 16-DEC-08, 7:00

SINCE THE 13TH OF DECEMBER, MAMMOTH HAS PICKED UP MORE THAN 35 INCHES OF NEW SNOW. THE UPPER LOW THAT BROUGHT SNOW TO JUST ABOUT EVERY ONE HERE IN THE EASTERN SIERRA IS MOVING SOUTHWARD WITH SOME LINGERING SHOWER ACTIVITY TO CONTINUE INTO WEDNESDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN TO PLUMMET TONIGHT WITH MAMMOTH'S EVENING LOWS AROUND MINUS 3 BELOW ZERO AND THE OWENS VALLEY AROUND 10 ABOVE. IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, ITS TIME TO WINTERIZE THOSE PIPES! NEXT WEAK SYSTEM TO BRING LIGHT SNOW TO THE HIGH COUNTRY LATE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. TEMPERATURES TO STAY ON THE VERY COLD SIDE THROUGH THE WEEKEND. CLOUDS WILL INCREASE ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AS ANOTHER SERIES OF STORMS APPROACHES THE WEST COAST FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW STARTING MONDAY. AND YES, RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THE HIGH COUNTRY, AT THE LEAST, WILL HAVE A WHITE CHRISTMAS!
FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH A CHANCE SNOW SHOWERS. HIGHS AROUND 38. WIND LIGHT.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH LOWS AROUND 14. 30% CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS. WIND LIGHT AND VARIABLE.
WEDNESDAY: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH HIGHS AROUND 40. 30% CHANCE OF SNOW FLURRIES. NORTHWEST WIND 3 - 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR 10. NORTHWEST WIND 6 MPH.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

TONIGHT: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS AROUND 3 BELOW ZERO. 60% CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS. EAST WIND 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH DAYTIME HIGHS NEAR 20. 30% CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS. EAST WIND 5 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH EVENING LOWS NEAR ZERO. CALM WIND.

TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS. LOWS FROM 4 BELOW TO 6 ABOVE ZERO. NORTHEAST WIND 10.
