Snowfall/Precipitation in Sierra and rest of CA

I have only been following snowfall and precipitation the past few years, so can anyone tell me how this year is shaping up so far snow-wise? Almost no snow has fallen on southern California mountains, and the trusty Mineral King webcam shows there is no snow at all in the MK valley yet. I know California is in a drought, but how atypical is this winter so far?

Well, for Tioga Pass, you can reference the california dept of water resources at:
http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryF?TES. The webcam associated with this area shows they had lots of blowing snow in the last storm. That's at:
http://tenaya.ucsd.edu/tioga/. It's best viewed at about 3pm.

I started a similar thread under "Sierra Nevada Weather" a couple of days ago, and here's what Dennis said:
snow pack predictions are always an issue and many experts start predicting as early as november. however, most of those experts can be off by quite a bit, becasue mother nature always does what she wants. right now i am saying we will have another normal to slighty above normal year. when all this snow will arrive is anybodies quess, but most of it will come from mid to late december through february. we are off to a late, but real good start.
I think the site you cited
is pretty good, and the "executive summary" tab seems to give a pretty good statewide statment, but I'm a real novice at this (and I live three thousand miles to the east), so I'd be delighted to find out about other good sources of snow-cover information.

Historical and current info, temp, RH, precip, wind speed, etc.

Click on the map in the approximate area you are interested in. It zooms in to that area. The blue squares are individual weather stations. Clicking on the individual station brings up a menu with lots of options for data requests.
