FORECAST 01-DEC-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

MONDAY, 01-DEC-08, 7:01

LARGE SCALE RIDGE WILL PROVIDE US WITH A BEAUTIFUL DECEMBER 1ST DAY, WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES. THEN THAT RIDGE WILL SUPPRESS A BIT IN RESPONSE TO TROUGH MOVING INLAND TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY. THIS WILL BE MOSTLY A DRY SYSTEM SO WE CAN EXPECT SLIGHT COOLING AND SOME INCREASED WINDS, PARTICULARLY OVER THE CREST. ANOTHER SHOT OF DRY ENERGY MOVES TO OUR NORTH ON THURSDAY KEEPING GUSTY CONDITIONS OVER THE CREST. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO BE ABOVE NORMAL WITH DRY CONDITIONS AS AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE STRENGTHENS OFF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST INTO THE WEEKEND.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

TODAY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 71. SOUTH WIND 6 - 9 MPH.
TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE MID 30S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.
TUESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY. DAYTIME HIGHS AROUND 67. NORTHEAST WIND 6 - 16 MPH GUSTING TO 22.

TUESDAY: SUNNY SKIES WITH DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 47. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LOWS FROM 23 TO 33. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30. RIDGE TOP GUSTS TO 55.
TUESDAY: SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 44 - 54. WEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: CLEAR WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS FROM 16 - 26. NORTH WIND 10 MPH.
