FORECAST 27-OCT-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

MONDAY, 27-OCT-08, 7:00 AM

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL FALL WEATHER OVER THE WEEKEND, WITH WARM DAYS, CRISP NIGHTS AND FAIR SKIES. THIS IS ALL DUE TO A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OFF THE COAST. THAT RIDGE WILL REMAIN WITH US THROUGH MID WEEK RESULTING IN A CONTINUATION OF OUR NICE WEATHER. THEN A SLIGHT PATTERN CHANGE FOR THE END OF THE WEEK AS A WEAK INCOMING PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM SHIFTS THAT HIGH PRESSURE A LITTLE EASTWARD AROUND THURSDAY. THIS WILL SET UP A COOLING TREND AND A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE HIGH COUNTRY OVER THE WEEKEND. WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THIS DEVELOPS AS THE WEEK PROGRESSES. BUT, AT THE LEAST, IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL SEE TEMPERATURES AT SEASONAL NORMS BY THE WEEKEND.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY TO PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 83 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. SOUTHEAST WIND AROUND 6 MPH.

TUESDAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 82 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 30S. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 8 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 66 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 37. EAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TUESDAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 64 AND EVENING LOWS NEAR 32. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH .

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: CLEAR SKIES BECOMING PARLTY CLOUDY IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 63 - 73 AND EVENING LOWS 24 - 34. EAST WIND @ 10 MPH.

TUESDAY FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY CLEAR. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 62 - 72 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS 21 - 31. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
