A whine -- no Fall color!

The maples, boxelders, and locusts in my yard are not turning colors this year. They all went straight to brown. 
What's up?
Can't see any disease or insect sign (unlikely to hit all the different species simultaneously anyway). Must be some unusual combination of weather.
Anyone else have the same problem?
