FORECAST 09-OCT-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

A BIG CHANGE IN OUR WEATHER IS IN STORE FOR US STARTING TODAY AS A TROUGH OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA PUSHES ONTO THE WEST COAST. THIS TROUGH WILL BRING WITH IT COLD AIR SO WE WILL HAVE MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH INCREASING WINDS AS THAT TROUGH PASSES THROUGH. TEMPS COULD DROP AS MUCH AS 20 DEGREES OR MORE IN SOME AREAS OVER THE WEEKEND IN THE SIERRA. SO EXPECT SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. NOT MUCH MOISTURE HERE, BUT I DO EXPECT A CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN THE MOUNTAINS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH THE BEST CHANCE ON SATURDAY. A WIND ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT WITH A LULL IN WIND FRIDAY MORNING. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN AND TEMPS REBOUND BACK TO AROUND NORMAL BY MONDAY AND TUESDAY.
