FORECAST 17-SEP-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

WEDNESDAY, 17-SEP-08, 7:04 AM

THAT WEAK UPPER LOW WHICH PULLED IN SOME MID LEVEL MOISTURE AND HELPED TO INITIATE A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CREST YESTERDAY HAS LIFTED INTO OREGON. IN ITS WAKE WE WILL HAVE MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AND COOLER TEMPERATURES TODAY. ANOTHER LOW WILL APPROACH THE COAST ON THURSDAY KEEPING TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL. AS IT BRUSHES OUR AREA ON FRIDAY, I CAN'T RULE OUT THE SLIGHT CHANCE OF A THUNDERSTORM OR TWO IN THE MONO COUNTY HIGH COUNTRY. THEN DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH A CONTINUATION OF TEMPERATURES A BIT BELOW NORMAL. OVERALL, BEAUTIFUL EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER AS FALL APPROACHES.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR 88 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S. SOUTHWEST WIND 3 - 11 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR 87 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS AROUND 49. SOUTHWEST WIND 6 - 11 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR 67 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 38. SOUTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 66 AND EVENING LOWS NEAR 40. SOUTH WIND 5 - 15 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: PARTLY CLOUDY BECOMING SUNNY. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 70 - 80 AND EVENING LOWS 29 - 39. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 71 - 81 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS 31 - 41. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
